The 2024 year is finally here and several publishers have published the report on the total vehicle sales in December 2023. No doubt! electric cars are now gaining more attention. Let's check the total sale records by the companies below.
TATA Motors December 2023 Sales
According to the latest information, in December 2023 Tata Motors sales figure was 76,138 units. This includes 43,470 units of passenger vehicles and 32,668 units of commercial vehicles, registering an overall Y-o-Y growth of four per cent. Notably, the sales of passenger vehicles grew by nine per cent Y-o-Y.
Earlier we reported that the company opened two new EVs-only showrooms in Gurgaon. Located in Sector 14 and Sohna Road, these EV-specific showrooms are made using recycled or recyclable materials and include a customer lounge, coffee shop, fast chargers, and a digital car configurator.
Commenting on the sales, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The PV industry is expected to post its highest ever sales in the CY23, crossing the significant four million mark, supported by a strong supply situation, new nameplates launched in the SUV segment, and a robust demand during the longer festive period. Coming off a high base, the industry recorded a single-digit growth overall with the key highlight of this moderate rise being the sharp growth registered in emission-friendly product categories. Both EV and CNG segments posted growth greater than 90 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively, signalling a growing preference for green and smart technologies by Indian customers.”
Tata Motors is expected to launch a new electric car in 2024 - Punch EV early in 2024. The company is on track to deliver 10 EVs by 2026. As is known, Tata Motors has committed an investment of US$ 2 billion in its EV business starting in 2022 over a five-year period.
TATA to sale 75,000 EVs in FY 2024
In 2024, Tata Motors is expected to achieve sales of over 500,000 PVs including 75,000 EVs. If we check the previous record, back in the April-December 2023 period, it has recorded cumulative sales of 415,945 PVs, up 3% (April-December 2022: 403,747 units) including 53,193 EVs, up 56% YoY (April-December 2022: 34,083 EVs).
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) December 2023 sales
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) in December 2023 recorded a growth of 10 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in its domestic wholesale sales to 42,750 units during the month (38,831 units). In 2023 the company recorded 5,52,511 units in sales, a growth of 9 per cent y-o-y.
“HMIL has not just kept pace but surpassed industry growth (estimated at around 8.2 per cent), a testament to customers choosing brand Hyundai as their preferred mobility brand. Also, in 2023, we proactively expanded our annual production capacity by 50,000 units to meet the increasing demand from our customers,” Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, HMIL, said.
Two-wheelers Sales December 2023
Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor have recorded growth on a yearly basis, while Royal Enfield reported a decline of 4 per cent y-o-y in its December sales. Meanwhile, in terms of commercial vehicle segment, there was a mixed trend in the sales during the month.
As per the record, TVS Motor registered monthly sales of 301,898 units in December 2023 with a growth of 25 per cent as against 242,012 units in the month of December 2022. Talking about two-wheelers, the company registered a growth of 27 per cent overall, with 227,666 units sold in December last year, compared to 290,065 units sold in December 2023.
