Several Tesla charging stations in the United States were stolen

This incident is still happening again and again. The latest victim, the Yale Street Market Supercharger station, is now back in operation after Tesla owners were notified that the station was closed due to dozens of cables being cut. Israel Robles is one of the many Tesla owners affected.

"It's very inconvenient because travel plans are based on charging stations along the way," he said. Incidents of cables being cut at Supercharger stations have surged, and the motives and identities of the perpetrators are still unclear. Some people speculated that the copper wires were stolen to sell them for money, but the owner of a scrap recycling station said that this idea was not reliable.

“Going through the recycling bin is more hassle than going to the bank,” Harleaux said. Sellers need to sign documents, take photos and even leave fingerprints, which is then uploaded to state and local databases. Harleaux said the motive for stealing charging station cables is puzzling given such tight surveillance. "Don't do this stupid thing again," she said.
