In 2024, the Indian people are getting ready to witness the new electric vehicles from TATA Motors and Maruti Suzuki. Checking the attention and eagerness of loving the electric car in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to bring two new electric cars. Using electric vehicles mainly helps to reduce environmental issues and also keeps far from the rising prices of petrol and diesel. The government is also working on promoting electric vehicles. This is the reason why automobile companies are introducing their electric vehicles in India.
Maruti Suzuki Upcoming Two Electric Cars 2024
According to the latest information, the company will launch the new Maruti Suzuki eVX and Maruti Compact Electric Sedan. Both these cars are going to be launched this year.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
Maruti Suzuki eVX car was first revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo. It is being said that the company will present this car in single and dual-motor configuration. Regarding its range, reports say that this electric car of Maruti Suzuki can provide a range of 550km on a single charge. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive can be found in the architecture of the car. Other features include LED headlights, Y-size LED DRL, horizontal LED lighting, panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera and wireless charging.
Maruti Compact Electric Hatchback
Maruti-Suzuki's second EV affordable electric hatchback which will compete with Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV in the market. For now, the company has not yet revealed the launch information of the device but according to the rumors the announcement will be happend soon. However, if some media reports are to be believed, this electric vehicle will provide a range of 200 to 250 kilometers on a single charge.
Official Statement
“Our first electric vehicle (EV) SUV will be produced from SMG’s factory in Hansalpur in 2024-25. Currently, the facility has three plants and to manufacture the EV, a new plant or new production line will be integrated into the existing setup,” said Rahul Bharti, executive director (corporate affairs) at Maruti Suzuki, during a press briefing in Ahmedabad.
For your information, the eVX will come with a 60kWh battery pack promising a range of about 560 km on a full charge, he added. Meanwhile, back in March 2022, SMG signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to invest ₹3,100 crore in the Hansalpur plant for EV manufacturing, Bharti said. As per the EVreporter site, in India there were a total of 14,92,620 EVs sold during the last 12-month period from Dec 2022 to Nov 2023. The sales figure for November 2022 started at 1,21,598 units and steadily increased month over month, reaching a peak of 1,58,420 units in May 2023.
