Skoda Auto planning to bring budget friendly EV in India

Skoda Auto is a Czech automaker and it is planning to bring a budget-friendly electric vehicle in India. According to the latest information, the company is planning to join local companies to increase the EV segment in the country. Below you can check the official statements.

“We are exploring all the options for the entry of the volume electric market, which is the best for India. We want to participate in the growth of the electric market and are looking for the best options in India. I am not at liberty to give you any details on this because no decision has been made,” said Martin Jahn, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing of Skoda Auto.

“We are committed to bringing electric cars with the investment made in Europe for the next six cars. The presumption is that Europe will go full electric in 2035. For India, we will see that the electrification journey has just started. In some countries like Turkey and West Asia, there are reservations about electric mobility, so the journey will be slow,” he added.

SUV launch timeline

As per the latest report, the company will bring a compact four-metre SUV in 2025 for the Indian automobile market, which will be the automaker’s third India-made brand after Kushaq and Slavia. The SUV will be based on MQB-AO-IN platform. By 2026 the company will introduce tier-3 centres.

Meanwhile, the iPhone smartphone maker Apple has reportedly cancelled work on its electric car, yes you read that right, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday. The employees working on the electric car project will be shifted to the firm’s artificial intelligence (AI) division, according to Bloomberg News. “If it is true, Apple will put more focus on GenAI and that should give investors more optimism about the company’s efforts and ability to compete at a platform level on AI,” said Ben Bajarin, chief executive of consulting firm Creative Strategies.
