Tesla Semi electric truck equipped with LiDAR leaked

Tesla is working on developing its diving assistance system for its Semi truck. A new image confirmed the tech on the Tesla semi-electric truck near the Nevada Gigafactory. It was said to be peculiar because its roof was equipped with a very conspicuous sensor kit, which looked similar to the LiDAR laser radar installed on some of Tesla's previous test vehicles.

Of course, although Musk has claimed that its mass-produced cars will not use LiDAR laser radar, Tesla still uses LiDAR devices to collect information and verify the visual data of test vehicles when developing an assisted driving system for a new model, so this is not a contradiction.

A previously published patent by Tesla also noted that training data can be collected with the help of "auxiliary sensors such as radar, LiDAR or other sensors" and then "used to train machine learning models." With this in mind, Tesla is probably currently doing some early development work on the assisted driving features for its Semi trucks, after all, the Tesla Semi is not yet equipped with Autopilot or FSD.
