Xiaomi confirms release date for its first EV

Xiaomi is the leading smartphone maker in the world. For your information, the company has recently launched the first electric vehicle Speed Ultra 7 (SU7). The company has recently launched the long-awaited electric car and it is now officially confirmed that this electric vehicle (SU7) will be available from March 28. China's fifth-largest smartphone maker says it has 59 stores in 29 cities around the country to take orders. Xiaomi's chief executive Lei Jun said the company aims to become one of the top five car makers in the world. 

The company has claimed in a social media post its SU7 electric car “would be delivered as soon as it is launched,” according to CNBC’s translation of the post written in Chinese. Reportedly, the company was opening the waitlist for 59 stores in 29 cities in China. Xiaomi revealed the vehicle’s exterior and tech features in late December but did not share a price or specific delivery date. During the CNBC, Xiaomi President Weibing Lu told that the company was looking to increase the development of the premium segment with the car, and indicated deliveries could begin as soon as the second quarter. 

The company first introduced the car at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Lu said it would likely take at least another two or three years before Xiaomi starts selling the vehicle overseas. The SU7 will be made by a unit of state-owned car manufacturer BAIC Group at a plant in Beijing that can produce as many as 200,000 vehicles a year. Xiaomi is looking to invest $10 billion in autos over a decade and is one of the few new players in China's EV market to gain approval from authorities who have been reluctant to add to a supply glut.

The Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan will look like the Hyundai Ioniq 6, Porsche Taycan, and Tesla Model 3. Exterior highlights include teardrop-shaped LED headlights, a pop-up rear spoiler, up to 20-inch alloy wheels, connected LED taillights, and sporty bumpers.

Interior And Feature Details

Xiaomim SU7 includes a 16.1-inch free-floating touchscreen system, a 25-speaker music system, and a 56-inch heads-up display. Xiaomi has also provided it with connected car tech, rear entertainment displays, front and rear parking sensors, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

What About Its Electric Powertrain?

Xiaomi is expected to bring the SU7 with two battery pack options: 73.6 kWh (SU7) and 101 kWh (SU7 Max). The SU7 has a 299 PS single-motor setup with rear-wheel-drive (RWD), while the other offers a 673 PS dual-motor setup with all-wheel-drive (AWD). Their claimed range figures stand at 668 km and 800 km, respectively.
